High school applications close next week> A Little Bit of Stone
Stone’s parents have just over a week to apply for high school places, with the deadline to apply for admission being October 31.
Applications for high school admission close on October 31, which means Stone’s parents still have time to make this all-important decision about which high school their child will attend in September 2022. Applications are open for children who are currently in eighth grade at college.
Last year there were over 200 late applications which may have affected the outcome of those applications, so parents are encouraged to apply before the deadline.
With increased demand for secondary school places in parts of the county, the Staffordshire County Council admissions team has produced some helpful tips when applying.
- Make more than one preference
- Be realistic about which schools you are applying to and always include the school in your catchment area on your list of preferred schools when you have one. You can search for a school on www.staffordshire.gov.uk/admissions
- Understand the admission requirements for each of your favorite schools. This will allow you to assess what order of priority will be given for each school. You will find this information on www.staffordshire.gov.uk/admissions
- All applications are reviewed at the same time, which means it is essential that all applications are received by October 31st.
County Councilor Jonathan Price, Cabinet Member for Education, said:
âParents who need to apply for a place but have not yet done so must show up before the closing date. By applying on time, they will have the best chance of being awarded one of their top three favorite schools for their child.
“Our admissions team has an excellent track record in assigning majority parenting to their school of first preference, but this job is all the easier when parents apply before the closing date.”
