New Superintendent of Exceptional Children Appointed in Alexander County School System

Ms. Jessica Anderson, Director of Accountability and Testing, has been appointed Executive Director of Child and Exceptional Student Support Services for Alexander County Schools, effective June 1.

“I am honored to continue serving the children and families of Alexander County and thrilled to be able to do so as Executive Director of Exceptional Children and Student Support Services. I have established a great working relationship with this team and look forward to leading this wonderful group,” said Ms. Anderson.

Anderson served as assistant director of Exceptional Children in Carteret County for more than three years. She has three years of experience in administration at several school levels and was director of dropout prevention.

Ms. Anderson holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology, a master’s degree in anthropology, and a master’s degree in educational administration from East Carolina University. She has a BA in Social Studies (9-12), Anthropology (9-12), Spanish (K-12), and Administration of Exceptional Children. Ms. Anderson is enrolled in the doctoral training program at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
