Ranchi School Teachers Bear Student Admission Fees Amid Covid-19 Pandemic
Teachers at a public school in Jharkhand have led by example by covering the admission fees of several students amid the Covid-19 pandemic. As the coronavirus brought economic disaster, it became impossible for countless parents to continue educating their children. Teachers at Balkrishna +2 High School in Ranchi decided to intervene when they realized that several students could not continue their studies due to financial constraints.
The group of teachers covered the admission fees for at least 90 students in class 9 for this academic year. The school administration has now taken an initiative to ensure that children’s education is not hampered by monetary problems.
Principal Divya Singh said it was extremely sad that students could not come to schools due to financial constraints. Therefore, it has been decided that teachers will cover the admission fees for all students in their school for this year, she added. The decision, the principal noted, will not only help students but also their parents who are already under the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The teachers of Balkrishna +2 high school also created a Whatsapp group to register the students who have completed class 8. The Whatsapp group also helps in the online classes of the students.
In an era when private schools harass students and parents over tuition fees, this Ranchi public school has led the way for other educational institutions.
Meanwhile, schools and other educational institutions have started to reopen in various parts of the country. The Jharkhand government has allowed schools to resume physical classes for students above the 6th standard.
State Education Minister Banna Gupta said eligible students can only attend physical classes after parental consent.
